Challenge Expeditions are based in Warrington, Cheshire but we deliver expeditions all over the UK and are happy to work to areas that suit you best.

Bronze expeditions start from £235pp which include’s everything each participant needs to complete the expedition section of the DofE (training, expeditions, group equipment, supervision and assessment).

Expedition duration:

2 days and 1 night
 
At least 6 hours during the daytime (at least 3 of which must be spent journeying)

Silver expeditions start from £285pp which include’s everything each participant needs to complete the expedition section of the DofE (training, expeditions, group equipment, supervision and assessment).

3 days and 2 nights
 
At least 7 hours during the daytime (at least 3.5 of which must be spent journeying)

Gold expeditions start from £425pp which include’s everything each participant needs to complete the expedition section of the DofE (training, expeditions, group equipment, supervision and assessment).

50% payable prior to the practice venture with the remaining 50% payable prior to the qualifying venture.

Expeditions take place between April and September and this will depend on your schools chosen expedition areas.

No. Our expeditions are fully staffed so you can choose to leave your groups with us if you prefer. It can however be beneficial to have some staff members who can offer pastoral care if needed.

Paperwork is now all largely electronic. Your school will advise of any forms that need to be completed. Don’t worry, there aren’t many.

No. All group camping kit is provided such as tents, stoves, gas, rucksack if needed and more. Canoeing equipment is also provided if completing a paddling venture.

Training can be completed at any time of the year. Expeditions will normally be completed March through to October. 

We have to follow the rules set by the Award so each participant must completed the required amount of days/nights on expedition in order to complete the section. If you were to drop out you may need to repeat that element.

We generally have 1 instructor for every expedition group (7 young people).

Instructors generally hold a Mountain Training qualification such as the Mountain Leaders Award. In addition all instructors hold a current first aid certificate and Enhanced DBS check.

Challenge Expeditions is fully insured for all the activities it delivers. In addition any relevant licenses are also held such as an AALA (Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority) licence. Read more about our approach to health and safety.
