Expedition Safety

As an Approved Activity Provider Challenge Expeditions takes health and safety very seriously and works to ensure that risk is reduced to an absolute minimum. as part of any programme health and safety and emergency procedures will be incorporated into all training delivered and throughout the expedition itself.

DofE Approved Activity Provider

Challenge Expeditions is an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. This licence ensures that Challenge Expeditions operates within the parameters and spirit of the Award. The licence also provides an opportunity for the DofE to assess Challenge Expeditions suitability to deliver DofE activities. 

Child Protection & Safeguarding

All of our instructors have undergone an enhanced DBS check and have been cleared to work with children and young people. All staff and instructors are also aware of Challenge Expeditions child protection policy and know what to do if they have any concerns about a child or young person. Safeguarding is taken very seriously with Challenge Expeditions and any matters arising will be dealt with according to the policy in place.

Qualifications

All instructors employed by Challenge Expeditions have been checked to ensure they hold the correct level of qualification to deliver the activities on offer. In addition Challenge Expeditions also takes into account an instructors level of experience as well as their qualification to ensure you get the best. All instructors have a current first aid certificate of at least a 16 hour first aid at work course. Our instructors are continually looking to develop professionally and increase their skill base.

Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) 

Challenge Expeditions has fully completed the AALA process and now holds a Licence for Hill Walking and Mountaineering activities. Adventure activities licensing ensures that activity providers follow good safety management practices. This licence should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks of death or disabling injury. AALA Registration Number: L10139/R2041

Insurance

As with all adventurous activities it is important that suitable insurance is sought. Challenge Expeditions ensures that it’s insurance cover meets the requirements of the outdoor industry. Challenge Expeditions is fully insured for the activities it provides.
